Artist's Comments

It took a long time to finish this picture. Not that I am slow at photoshop but this picture meant a lot to me. That cold cold look... that body language... the frozen moment. Something extremely sad about this picture. I mean... look at how we relate crows and ravens to the dark side and the evil. They are feared, hated, and very unfairly treated. In practical, they are very organized and successful creatures. They're efficient, they're effective and they're only trying to survive just as we are. How we misjudge them only reflects the 'wrong' in us. And sadly enough... the hatred doesn't come from our own personal experience [in case of almost all of us] but from the hatred the society feeds us.

I have never hated them personally, and it's not that they're my favorite of the bunch... but somehow they always seemed very capable of plucking out my eyes.

thats such a cool pic, i love the focus and the black and white, wonderful!
hehe you should be happy to still be alive.. this one looks as if it was about to kill you :D

very nice picture, it's a beauty ready to be a poster on somebodies wall :)
Well congrats then, you did a great job, very striking shot, perfect contrast and oh those eyes! they intrigue me and scare at the same time, well done :)

Perfect Symmetry.
personally i think it would be freaky to have such poster on the wall... would scare the crap out of you everytime you see it in the corner of your eyes :)
Crows and ravens are beautiful birds, but it's true that they are a bit scorned in Western society. They are carrion fowl, and that brings with it a certain stigma; feeding off the dead is a dark way to survive. In many other cultures, though, they are messengers from the spirit world, and their eating habits are seen as a gateway to that world. They are also very intelligent, being one of the only other creatures we know of with a language and a real capacity to learn.

As for the photo, it really caught my eye on the front page. Your composition is excellent and you have done a very good job with the tonality. I really like the light and, well, just about everything else.

this new camera is making a world of difference.
i mean you took beautiful photos before...
but the focus, the tones, the details of the feathers are all dead on. perfect. this is so powerful, and now definitely one of my favorite photos by far.
:-)

i'm wearing a sweatshirt with a crow on it right now

this is very deep, prateek
i love it in general.
the black and white, almost... softness.
and on such a "hard" creature.

very nice
poorchiggies is right... your pics look ultracool now that grain bugs you no more ..ani the angle of the crow's head is damn good and youre right ..the 'expression' is great ;)

amazing photo dude, remind me of robert deniro from taxi driver for some reason... "you talkin to me? you talkin to me??"

I do think the focus could have been better but considering them crow aint no models waiting for their pics to be taken, you've done one hell of a job!!
